Event Details

The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (ASDM) is a short thirty minute drive out west of Tucson through Gates Pass.  Founded on September 1, 1952 the ASDM is always a “must see” attraction in travel guides. Cool Summer Nights, from June through August , provides a good way to avoid some of the summer daytime heat and still see many of the animals on display there.  After the drive out you can have a fast casual dinner at the Ironwood Terraces or you can try to make a reservation on your own at the Ocotillo Café, or just tour the grounds at your own pace. Don’t miss the sunset from one of the many vantage points at the museum. The evenings programs will be focused on bats.  The museum stays open until 10:00 PM on Saturday nights.

We will meet at 2455 East Speedway, the North West corner of Speedway and Tucson Blvd. and DEPART at 4:30. After a brief photo op at Gates Pass, we should arrive at the museum main entrance about 5:15. West side members can meet up with the group at Gates Pass (about 4:50) or at the main entry of the museum at about 5:15.

Touring the museum and driving back to Tucson are at your own pace. Dress for the weather and bring a small flashlight if you need one. Admission to the ASDM is free to members of the ASDM. Be sure to bring your ASDM card. Non-member admission is $29.95 adults and $19.95 for kids A few free passes will be available on a first come basis. Please consider becoming an ASDM member for just a little more. Visit www.DesertMuseum.org for more information.

Please RSVP so we can have an accurate count and let us know where you plan to join up with the group along the way.
