Come join us on another edition of our annual scenic driving tour up our very own “Sky Island”, Mount Lemmon, and picnic on Saturday July 27, 2024. The Club will provide a variety of Subway sandwiches, soft drinks and waters. Please bring a side dish for the group and any special dietary needs you may have.

     We will meet up on the east side parking lot of the McDonald’s on the North East corner of Tanque Verde and Mount Lemmon Highway at 9:30 AM and DEPART there at 9:45 AM. We will have a spirited drive up to the cool pines with a short stop at Windy Point for photos and then up to our favorite picnic area at Sykes Knob. It is now open but there will be a use fee per car, so bring your Golden Eagle or Annual Pass and some folding chairs if you have them. Those that wish can try the Iron Door ( 520-576-1321, skithelemmon.com) or Sawmill Run Restaurants (520-576-9147, sawmillrunmtlemmon.com) for lunch on your own. Please check availability and their menus. We have been unable to make a group reservation at either in the past.

     The return back down the mountain is on your own schedule and at your own pace, or take a short drive to Summer Haven and visit the shops there. After all our winter rains the forest is green again and the cooler temperatures on top will be great. So, fill up the tank, charge up those batteries and get out of town to the cool pine trees and picnic on Mount Lemmon.
