Please join the Sonora Chapter BMWCCA for an autumn drive to the heart of Arizona wine country!

October 6th, 2018 will mark the club’s return to Elgin Arizona, to be pampered by our gracious hosts, the Flying Leap Vineyards and Distillery.

Unlike most functioning distilleries, this brilliant venue was crafted just for tastings, events, and tours. Have a look at their website:

The President/CEO of the winery estate, Mark Beres (through BMWCCA member Gregg Montijo), has offered to host a private winery and distillery tour in their new venue space.

Here is the planned schedule of events for this fall driving tour:

  • BMWCCA members who have RSVP’d for the event are requested (but not mandatory) to meet at the BMW of Tucson parking lot at 8:45am  (855 W Wetmore Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705)
  • We will leave BMW of Tucson as a group no later than 9:15am
    • A map of the initial route is below, including a clickable web link (we will be taking the 62 mile route on the way there)
  • Arrive at Flying Leap no later than 10:30am
    • Upon arrival, we will receive either a welcome cordial or cocktail (Martinis, Margaritas, or wine)
  • A 45 minute estate tour will follow, with the winery tour going from 11:00-11:15am, the vineyard from 11:15-11:30am, and the distillery tour from 11:30 to 11:45am
  • A rose luncheon will be served at 12:00pm noon, with catered gourmet boxed lunches from Chef Michael Elefante at Mama Louisa’s (and complementary rose wine)
    • During-lunch presentation – a narrative tour of the Arizona wine industry, history of southwestern viticulture and guided tour of Flying Leap’s wine portfolio
  • Post-lunch car show, discussion, or anything else we want to talk about (Mark Beres will have his BMW i8 onsite for the group to drool over as well!)
  • Depart the estate by 1:00pm
    • Tentative: continued driving in the Sonoita/Elgin region, or return home (TBD)

Extras for participants:

  • Lunch includes a full ‘flight’ of wine tasting
  • 10% off all wines purchased that day
  • A complementary long-stemmed German-made 22oz Bordeaux-style wine glass
  • For each person who purchases at least one bottle of wine, they will provide an additional $8 rebate on the total purchase

The cost for this BMWCCA driving event is $39/person, which includes all three facility tours, the gourmet boxed lunch with the rose wine, and the special discounts for our private group event. It’s truly a smokin’ deal.

Payment and RSVP for the event will be handled through this portal:
