Biosphere 2 Drive

University of Arizona Biosphere 2 is an American Earth system science research facility located in Oracle, Arizona. Its mission is to serve as a center for research, outreach, teaching, and lifelong learning about Earth, its living systems, and its place in the universe.

We will meet at 9 AM at In-N-Out Burger, 11545 N Oracle Rd, Oro Valley, AZ 85755 – In-N-Out map   We will leave at 9:30 AM for a 20-minute drive to the Biosphere.

Depart 12:00 – 12:30 for lunch at Lupe’s Mexican Restaurant, 35480 AZ-77, Saddlebrooke, AZ – Lupe’s map. The restaurant has 22 years at that location!

The Biosphere 2 Experience is a self-paced app guided tour behind the scenes that will lead you through the rich history and current research initiatives of this remarkable facility.  The Biosphere 2 app should be downloaded prior to arrival in order to get the most out of your visit.  The Biosphere 2 Experience will take place both indoors and outdoors and is a 75-minute walking tour, where you explore Biosphere 2 using your own smartphone and headphones. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, sunscreen, and a sun hat. Visitors should be prepared for the following physical requirements, however a fully accessible route is available.

Important:
* This is an indoor AND outdoor tour
* Expect approximately 100 stairs, both up and down
* It is about a 1-mile walk
* The biomes are maintained in various environments, with varying weather conditions, temperatures and humidity ranging from ocean and tropical rain forest to deserts and savanna systems. Be prepared!

We strongly encourage downloading the app before you arrive for the best experience. It contains all tour content and helpful pre-visit materials.
